Bowen therapy consists of a series of gentle moves over soft tissue on precise meridian piont on the body. By combining moves, the practitioner can either benefit the body as a whole, or target a specific problem. The length of the initial treatment for an Adult is from 60 - 90 minutes and a follow-up treatment from 30 - 45 minutes. Initial treatment for a Child is from 40 - 60 minutes and a follow-up treatment from 20 - 30 minutes.
In your treatment a comprehensive assessment and appraisal of your condition, before and after the treatment is given. Both overall health status and presenting issues are taken into account. Healing is listening: Not only do I listen with my hands but also to your words and body language.
Common responses to treatment often include improved energy, better body mechanics and reduced pain. However, if a client is dehydrated, with 'gluing' patterns in the fascia or suffering from a lot of pain due to the injury, it is NOT uncommon for post treatment reactions to include tiredness, shifting musculo-skeletal discomfort/pain, headaches and frequent urination. Generally these reactoins only last for 24 - 48 hours.
Drinking plenty of water both pre and post treatment will enhance the overall results and reduce the intensity of the reaction.
